Studio Recording, CCTV & Privacy

At Clay and Craft, the safety and wellbeing of our staff, visitors, and workshop participants is extremely important to us. For this reason, limited video and audio recording is in operation within specific areas of our premises.

While you are in the studio, shop, or entrance areas, you may be recorded via CCTV and audio-enabled equipment. These recordings are used solely for the purposes of safety, safeguarding, incident management, and the protection of both staff and clients. They are not used for marketing, promotional, or surveillance purposes beyond these aims.

Recording equipment is positioned as follows:

  • One camera in the shop area

  • Two cameras in the main pottery studio

  • One camera in the entranceway

There are no cameras or recording devices in any washroom or toilet facilities, and we take privacy in these spaces extremely seriously.

To further protect privacy, children and adults are asked to clearly inform a member of staff when they need to use the facilities. This ensures staff can manage movement within the studio and prevent anyone from entering those areas while they are in use.

All recordings are:

  • Stored securely

  • Accessed only by authorised personnel

  • Retained only for as long as necessary in line with data protection legislation

By entering the premises and participating in activities, you acknowledge and consent to this safety-based recording. If you have any questions or concerns about recording, privacy, or data protection, please speak to a member of staff who will be happy to discuss this with you.
